Medellin has been awarded for betting to sustainability and innovation with the prize that recognizes the cities with the highest urban and social development in the world.
The Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize is considered as the “Nobel prize of the cities” as the highest award of urban cities in the world. In the last years, the winners include cities such as New York (United States), Bilbao (Spain) and Suzhou (China).
Some of the criteria to define the winner city are: urban innovation, good use of public spaces and sustainability. Medellin competed in finals with cities such as Aukland (New Zealand), Toronto (Canada), Vienna (Austria), Sydney (Australia).
