Dancer, choreographer and teacher Susana Montero is the current Jury Director and President of the Disciplinary Committee of the World Latin Dance Cup. Her function is to capacitate the rest of the jurors in the official qualification system of the organization, which guarantees transparency when it comes to qualifying competitors.
Susana Montero has an extensive trajectory in the world of dance, where she began training as a dancer and then worked as a teacher and choreographer of large formats like movies and television programs. No doubt, her profile becomes a source of inspiration for our dancers; it also shows us that it is possible to apply an artistic career such as dance to different fields like entertainment or academia.

She was born and raised in Madrid where she started dancing at the age of 5, discovering her passion for ballet and flamenco. She performed for Silvia Yagüe Ballet Dance Company and for the Ballet Nacional de España. When she moved to the United Kingdom she was part of the London Royal Ballet. Then, she turned to contemporary dance, jazz and Afro-Cuban and started salsa in London by the 1990´s.
One of the most important aspects of her professional career has been her participation in high impact productions; therefore, she was the associate choreographer of the film Cuban Fury, which featured well-known actors such as Nick Frost, Rashida Jones, Olivia Colman and Ian Mc Shane and where Susana Montero also appeared as an actress. She also participated in BBC programs “So you think you can dance” and “Strictly come dancing”, where she performed live.
She has a PHD in Psychology, which has allowed her to work as a teacher for children for 10 years. She also participated in the creation of a Latin Dance Book for children, published in 2011 by Wayland. Also, she developed a new curriculum for the Official Accreditation of Dance Teachers at the request of the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing), that is currently in use all over the world.
She is one of the co-founders of the Latin Rhythms School in London, The Latin Dance Academy IIp with whom she has participated in congresses all over the world. Nowadays she is the general director of CAT 7 Productions, a management agency that represents dancers, musicians and DJs.
Of course, her professional experience shows the domain of knowledge within the world of dance. That’s why since this year, Susana Montero is responsible for managing academic issues, regulations, training of juries for the competitions of the World Latin Dance Cup. This fact ratifies one of the objectives of the organization to continue consolidating itself as a prestigious entity and referent on an international scale in terms of art and dance.
